About the Process
Meet for a book consultation. Discuss your goals and the book’s general idea.
Start with a trial. We schedule a trial interview or document review and I provide you with a sample text to model voice, pacing, and tone.
Provide feedback on sample. You tell me what you liked and didn’t like about the sample, so we can move forward on the same page. I give you a book proposal with the price and timeline for your book.
Create a book plan. We create a preliminary outline of your book, with a suggested range of topics and flow.
Write and review the chapters. You provide material for the chapters by interview or by text, and I draft it into chapters.
Review and revise: You review the full manuscript and make comments and edits. I revise. Most projects include at least two revisions.
Publishing consultation: When your manuscript is complete, we will meet to discuss your next steps for publishing and publicity. Where relevant, I will help you craft cover letters to submit your manuscript to publishers, or find suitable hybrid publishers who can take on your work. I guide my clients as far into the publishing process as I can, but cannot guarantee access to a literary agent.
